Mackie Control - Support in Samplitude V7

MC button overview

Troubleshooting Tips:
-
check correct activation of Mackie Control/Logic Control in the Hardware Controller Setup dialog (checkbox enabled?)
- check correct Midi In/Out device
- With open Samplitude: turn Control off and start it again with an open Samplitude project
- Attention: Mixer does not follow the selected track (like with click in VIP) with an activated Control Panel

Track Names
- MC shows the track names in the blue LCD display

Fader

- Fader and Volume in Tracks (VIP-Arranger/Mixer) - synchronize with VIP open
- display shows volume values

Buttons
Select: selects the track with this number
Mute: Mutes the track with this number
Solo: Track Solo
Rec/Rdy: activates Record in this track
Rec/Rdy + SHIFT: activates Force Monitoring (ASIO) in the selected track


VPots (knobs) and assignment
The assignment buttons activate the mode for the VPots: PAN, EQ, AUX

Mode Pan:
- Activate: PAN button in assignment field
- LCD display shows "PanX" above the value (X = track number)
- VPot Knobs adjusts Pan - MC LCD shows PAN values
- VPot click resets value to default (0)

Mode EQ:
- Activate: Hold EQ button in assignment field and press a VPot
- Choose EQ band for all 8 tracks - click on:

  VPot1 - Hi Gain
VPot2 - MH Gain
VPot3 - LM Gain
VPot4 - Lo Gain
 
- LCD display shows "EqX" above the value (X = track number) and the chosen band (e. g. Hi, MH, LM, LO)
- Knob adjusts EQ Gain - MC LCD shows Gain value in dB from the track

- Choose EQ frequency for all 8 tracks - click on:

  VPot5 - Hi frequency
VPot6 - MH frequency
VPot7 - LM frequency
VPot8 - Lo frequency
 
- LCD display shows "EqX" above the value (X = track number) and the chosen band (e. g. Hi, MH, LM, LO)
- Knob adjusts EQ frequency - MC LCD shows value in Hz (without comma numbers from 1000 Hz +)

Mode AUX:
- Activate: Hold Send button (right button in the first row) in assignment field and click (press on time) VPot
- Choose Aux send for all 8 tracks - click on:

  VPot1 - Aux 1
VPot2 - Aux 2
VPot3 - Aux 3
VPot4 - Aux 4
VPot5 - Aux 5
VPot6 - Aux 6
(VPot 7 and 8 - Aux 6)
 
- assignment LED shows Au
- LCD display shows "AuxX" above the value (X = track number):
- Knob adjusts Aux send level - MC LCD shows Gain value in dB from the track

Time LCD
- MC time LCD shows SMPTE position from arranger


Transport
- PLAY - play from current position (double press stops playback and stays on stop position)
- RECORD - Record in the REC enabled track
- STOP - Stop and locator jumps back to start position
- FFW - in stop mode - locator forward in Play mode - locator forward without stop
- REW - in stop mode - locator backward (in Play mode - locator backward without stop)
- Shuttlewheel - locator position without Play-Stop (precision depends from zoom level)
- Scrub - scrub mode (PlayStop, wheel scrubbs)

Ranges
- Range from current Locator position: Hold Stop and turn wheel back or for
- Range from current Locator position to marker: Hold OPT (button right beside SHIFT) and F-Button (F1=Marker 1)

Peakmeter display

MC/LC can show small peakmeters in different modes in the display:

- To activate a mode, hold END (right button above transport controls) and press F1 - F4
 
  Mode-1 (F1) - signal LED (below REC/RDY) shines
Mode-2 (F2) - Peakmeter (horizontal)
Mode-3 (F3) - Peakmeter (vertical)
Mode-4 (F4) - signal LED + Peakmeter (horizontal)

- END + F8 disables any peakmeter mode (stop playback, to avoid Signal LED staying on)

Zoom + 4 cursor buttons
- cursor buttons (normal mode) move seletion rectangle in VIP and arranger view left/right
- Zoom button activates zoom mode - cursor buttons adjusts zoom level (horiz., vert.)


FaderBanks
- +/- 8 tracks


Channel
- moves channels in mixer view left/right


Function buttons 1-8
- sets marker (1-8) with and moves locator to marker with next press of this button
- SHIFT + F-Button: replaces existing marker
- CONTROL + F-Button: deletes marker


Marker mode (transport)
- marker mode with transport cotrol buttons: activation with <FRM button (left button in the button row above the controls)
- FFW/REW set locator to markers


Object mode
- object mode with transport cotrol buttons: activation with the 2nd button in the button row above the controls
- FFW/REW selects objects in the selected track


ALT
- cuts the selected object in the selected track


Loop
- Loop ON/OFF (3rd button above the transport controls)


Automation
- Automation for selected track ON/OFF (Read/off button in automation field)
- records/plays automation data
- volume fader
- pan (turn knob with pressed VPot)
- the red LED on the write button turns on while automation recording


Mixer button (functions, right button in the 2nd row)
- MC: opens/closes Mixer (do not use with open dialogs!)
- LC: ENTER like on your keyboard (closes windows with OK)


Enter (functions, right button in the 1st row)
- ENTER like on your keyboard (closes windows with OK)


Cancel (functions, 2nd button from right in the 1st row)
- Cancel like on your keyboard (closes windows with Cancel)

Undo/Redo
- one Undo step
- SHIFT+UNDO: one Redo step (LC: SHIFT+UNDO)

 

Fader through
